The Muskoka Opera Guild
Mission Statement:
- to promote a means of fellowship for opera lovers in the Muskoka and beyond.
- to enhance knowledge of opera through educational activities.
The Muskoka Opera Guild (MOG) has been around since September 2006. It usually meets
the last Monday of each month between 1 and 4m from September
through June in the lower level at James Street Place, a Chartwell
retirement facility in Bracebridge. Adres: 148 James St., where good audiovisual
equipment is available. The members (or guests) prepare an opera subject of
their choice with the main objective to present three hours of great
entertainment.
MOG is unincorporated and duly constituted as a non-profit organisation. The
membership fee is presently $ 20.00 per year and covers regular and special
events as well as certain expenses to be approved by the Executive.
The Guild was instrumental in bringing the Metropolitan Opera Simulcasts to
Bracebridge. The performances as scheduled in the MetOpera "Live in HD" program
are shown in the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre, 100 Clearbrook
Trail.
MOG will support the Canadian Opera Company any way it possibly can.
